Macrame & Must See March Saturday
You can't have a full day of fun without starting early!
The day started at Ali'i Kula Lavender Farm for a macrame class in the gazebo. Naturally, Renee and I arrived early to guarantee enough time for Lavender scones with local honey + lilikoi jam. And naturally, the only way to wash down a lavender scone is with lavender coffee. The backdrop to our delectable breakfast is overlooking the pristine Maalaea Bay.
All the feels upon completing the scone: sadness that it's over, but overjoyed that it happened. Now.. it's time. To macrame!
Full disclosure: I've macramed (macra-made, if I may) a planter once before, when I first moved on island. The concept seems easy enough: loop + knot yarn, repeat. But let me tell you: a few twists in and you start questioning what you just did - similar to when you stare at a word too long, you wonder if that' is legitimately how you spell it. Alas, we came out on top and mastered the craft (for an afternoon)!
From there, a quick trip down the road led us to Kula Bistro: a must eat if you’re in the area. Nestled in the beautiful town of Kula is this one-room beauty of a restaurant. The only thing bigger than the servings is the joy the of the servers in this joint. On this afternoon, I dabbled - okay, I faceplanted - into a caprese salad.
After lunch, mosey next door to see what the pros at Worcester Glassworks shop are dreaming up!
